From production facilities for regional products and biomass heating plants to designing landscape features and an energy check for municipalities and a demography check in the LEADER Region Weinviertel Ost, the range of products stretches to the largest field of action.

DEMOGRAPHY CHECK
Demographic changes require far-sightedness. The 57 member municipalities of the LEADER Region Weinviertel Ost participated in the demography check and gained an insight into the future development of the region. On behalf of the LEADER Region Weinviertel Ost, the consulting firm mecca consulting surveyed opportunities and challenges, which involve demographic change – population development – for the 57 member municipalities of the LEADER region.
The demography check focuses on regional enterprises and tourism businesses, the municipalities, institutions and citizens of the region. The project was carried out in three steps: status analysis, Industry and Tourism sector check, strategy and action planning.
The results concern the population development and confirm known facts, among other things: The cities grow, the countryside thins out. Young men and women migrate to the southern city regions south. The north has to struggle with the ageing population.
Age structure, corporate loyalty, problem areas, target group 55+ and regional identification were surveyed in an extensive company survey. 62 percent of the survey participants see problem areas and business challenges in the next 10 to 20 years. The measures in the survey make it clear that the development of age-appropriate products and services has not yet been actively implemented. It is also clear: Those who actively deal with the demographic change can derive opportunities and identify potential risks in good time.

REGIONAL ENERGY CONCEPT
The energy supply is a precondition for the functioning of our society and thus also municipal social structures. It is therefore advisable that work is carried out in accordance with guidelines, which take demand and availability into account. In terms of detailed investigation of this issue, particularly with regard to practical contributions at the municipal level, a regional energy concept was implemented in the LEADER Region Weinviertel Ost pursuant to eligibility criteria "Renewable energy in the context of LEADER 2007-2013" (ecoplus).
The energy status within the LEADER Region Weinviertel Ost was analysed, potential assessments were carried out and individual objectives were defined within five standardised modules.
In the process, municipal buildings were inspected with regard to energy consumption and any saving potentials and practical energy-saving measures were shown in specific terms. Furthermore, a regional schedule was created to ensure a sustainable energy future and related PR and communication tasks.
