Biodiversity and cultural landscape “Kellergasse” (cellar lane)

Michael Staribacher, Christine Filipp und Johannes Rieder bei der Infoveranstaltung zu Biodiversität in Kellergassen.

Life on earth is fascinatingly diverse. Every species, no matter how inconspicuous, has an important function in the ecosystem. But our earth's biodiversity is threatened! Along with climate change, preserving the diversity of life is one of the great challenges of our time.

The cellar ensembles with their natural intermediate structures are home to animal and plant species that have already become rare in our intensively used landscape. We can help preserve, create, promote and experience unique diversity. Diversity is an indicator of good development in land management. We contribute to making the Kellergasse cultural landscape more attractive and increase its wealth of experiences. The result is a new “valuation” of our cultural jewel.

The Weinviertler Kellergasse Guides Association invites you to take a look at this previously underexposed part of the cellar alleys, the flora and fauna. As part of this project, the topic of “biodiversity and the Kellergasse cultural landscape” was brought to the attention of cellar owners with a folder, an accompanying event and a competition (implementation of measures and photo competition).
