Church guide training course Weinviertel-Marchfeld
The churches and church interiors of the Weinviertel and Marchfeld regions undoubtedly belong to the cultural heritage of our country. The towering church steeples, visible from afar, are an integral part of our cultural landscape. Visiting churches is a growing trend, not necessarily as part of a religious service, but as a regular feature of private excursions or guided tours. This is also connected to the phenomenon of pilgrimage.
The training course for church guides aims to enable participants to bring "their" church (their home church, parish church, or favorite church) to life and present it to an interested public. This is achieved, on the one hand, through the imparting of fundamental knowledge in theoretical seminars, such as on the periods of regional and art history. Furthermore, the course offers the development of a spiritual and intellectual concept, allowing ample time for reflection on the church's history, encounters, and engagement with its various facets. This is the purpose of the practical sessions, which comprise roughly half of the training time and consist of guided exploration of selected churches. Each of the two-day weekend meetings (Fri. and Sat.) includes an excursion and a meeting with a qualified local church guide.
