Cycle.Region Weinviertel East
TThe LEADER Region Weinviertel Ost aims to turn its 58 municipalities into a living lab for practical circular economy solutions in rural areas. Together with municipalities, municipal associations, non-profit organisations, schools, businesses, research partners and committed citizens, simple, practical and transferable solutions will be developed, tested and firmly established in the region.
The project will begin with an assessment of existing initiatives, committed stakeholders, available resources and regional needs. The findings will be compiled in an internal “Circular Economy Map”. Resource checks, expert input and practical examples will help interested municipalities identify concrete opportunities for action. Accompanying communication activities will raise the visibility of existing initiatives and successful examples.
Building on this, residents will be invited to contribute their own ideas and implement small-scale pilot projects. Possible approaches range from repair and reuse initiatives, exchange and sharing schemes, and tool-lending services to reusable systems, food sharing and upcycling projects. Particular emphasis will be placed on involving young people through school challenges, practical activities and cooperation with schools and youth organisations.
Regular exchange and participation formats will promote networking, knowledge transfer and new partnerships. The evaluation of the pilot projects will provide the basis for viable organisational, financing and support models. Successful approaches are intended to continue independently after the project ends and to be transferred to other municipalities.
