Artistic interim use of Gaweinstal

Künstlerische Zwischennnutzung Gruppe von Menschen

The vacant former Bohrn hardware store on Brünnerstraße in Gaweinstal – currently with large tarps covering its shop windows and a symbol of economic stagnation – will become a creative hub. As part of the project, it will be used as the Brünnerstraße cultural space and a museum of everyday objects.

The Brünnerstraße cultural space is intended to be a vibrant meeting place for art and culture – open to all who want to contribute creatively. Exhibitions, artist meetings, and workshops of all kinds will address different cultural forms and create space for encounters, exchange, and collaborative creation.

As a special kick-off, the vacant space will be transformed into the Museum of Everyday Objects: The public is invited to contribute personal items – from beloved keepsakes to unloved "dust collectors." These will be presented together with the residents in a resource-efficient manner and celebrated with an opening party. The goal is to make everyday culture visible, share stories, and develop ideas for the future use of the vacant space.

Both parts of the project combine participatory art with social intervention and contribute to the sustainable activation of the town center of Gaweinstal.
