Discover nature without words – a picture book about the birdwatching spots in Hohenau-Ringelsdorf

The project aims to develop a picture book (Wimmelbuch) for children that enables an early and age-appropriate exploration of the region right on their doorstep. As one of the most important natural landscapes in Europe, the March-Thaya floodplains represent a unique natural and cultural habitat whose ecological value is often not sufficiently recognized by the general public. In the picture book, the bird watching sites (vogel.schau.plätze) are highlighted as representative elements of this exceptional landscape.

In the context of the increasing loss of direct contact with nature, environmental education and awareness-raising are becoming increasingly important. The planned picture book is intended to provide a playful access to the regional natural and cultural landscape, spark curiosity, and foster a long-term interest in nature and environmental topics.

Due to its largely wordless concept, the picture book is language-independent and therefore particularly well suited for cross-border use within the trilateral Ramsar site Danube–March–Thaya Floodplains.
