Weinviertel - Strengthening of the regional identity

Especially in regional development, the question of whether citizens feel connected to their home region and what personal affiliation they have is of great interest. The current scientific discourse proves that an existing regional identity increases the commitment of the population to their home (region).

Therefore, the central content of the present project is the strengthening of the regional identity of the Weinviertler:innen. To do this, awareness of the material and immaterial identity characteristics of the Weinviertel must be created in all population groups, knowledge about the region must be conveyed and the USPs of the Weinviertel must be made known. In addition to extensive preliminary work from a Weinviertel-wide cooperation project in the years 2020 - 2022, the basis is also provided by an online survey of the Weinviertel population carried out in March 2022, which provides information about the connection between the residents and the Weinviertel.

The project was developed by the LEADER Region Weinviertel Ost and will be implemented over the next two years in cooperation with Weinviertel Tourismus GmbH and the small regions in the eastern Weinviertel. The focus is on imparting knowledge to children and young people, setting up a regional training program for imparting knowledge, positioning the Weinviertel umbrella brand within the region and storytelling on the regional identity anchors.
